What I particularly like about my work at the ECB

I started my career at the Banco de Portugal as a banking supervisor. After my studies in London, I knew I wanted to continue working in an international environment, but I also knew that I wanted to work in an institution that has a positive impact on society.

Working at the ECB struck me as an extraordinary opportunity both to contribute to the European project and to work in teams with people from all over Europe. I have now been here for more than ten years working in the financial stability division.

How my work makes a difference

I am a firm believer in the benefits of European integration. In my job, I have had the opportunity to support the ECB and contribute to the development of the regulatory framework that allowed banking union to happen. I have been involved in particular in the establishment of the Single Supervisory Mechanism. Our ability to achieve this is based on the credibility built as a result of our work on monetary policy and on the calibre of our employees, highly-qualified professionals committed to working together towards a common goal.

The working atmosphere is both challenging and competitive, as we all bring different perspectives and approaches to problem solving. It gives real added value to our projects.

What I like about Frankfurt

Outside work, I spend time with my children. There are a lot of activities for kids on offer in Frankfurt, such as theatres, parks and museums. We also like to travel. Even though they are young, I want them to have the opportunity to discover Europe.
